When my heart no longer beats,

What is there in store for me,

Would I wake to life anew,

With angels dancing at my feet,

Seas of glorious radiant light,

Morning grass with luscious dew,

All the things that we’re so fond,

Or maybe when I’m dead I’m done.

When my blood no longer flows,

Through this tired body of mine,

Would I dwell where there’s no pain,

Where I’m free from hate and sorry,

Where love can never love in vain,

And hearts are not for sale or borrow,

And would we hold hands and sing a song,

Or maybe when I’m dead I’m done.

When my mom is dressed in black,

And teardrops reach across her face,

Would she see this humming bee,

Taste the pollen of new life,

Bitter though this honeycomb,

For things I did when earth I roamed,
